Individuals who operate beehives to produce honey and related products such as beeswax, pollen, royal jelly, propolis (bee glue and bee antiseptic) and queen bees as well as to pollinate seed, fruit, nut and vegetable crops. Duties may include building beehives; transporting hives to sites which have been assessed for honey and/or pollen production potential; removing honeycombs from the hive for honey collection; repairing beehives and honey extracting equipment; cleaning beeswax; controlling bee diseases, pests and parasites in working hives; packaging and selling honey, pollen, propolis and beeswax; re-queening colonies; raising queen bees for use by the apiary or sale; and negotiating with farmers who need pollination services.
